Vera DeBerg is a Doctoral Academy Fellow in the Department of Education Reform and a Research Assitant in the Office for Education Policy at the University of Arkansas. Originally from Albuquerque, Vera graduated from the University of Arkansas with a B.A. in International Relations and an M.A. in Political Science. She began studying Arabic upon moving to Fayetteville and has lived and studied the language in Morocco and Tunisia through the assistance of the U.S. Department of State’s Critical Language Scholarship. Vera has taught courses in American government and international relations at the University of Arkansas and NWACC, but her interest in K-12 education began during her time as a Montessori teacher. Her research interests include teacher quality, school finance, and technology in education.
